Update: We are currently full for Summer 2021!
Young Performing Artists of ABQ provides choral and music theatre education
and performance opportunities for youth!
We are so excited for our 2021 Children's Music Theatre Summer Camp.
As always, if you haven any questions, please contact [email protected]
Parent Volunteer Requirement: YPA Summer Camps are treated as co-ops. All families that sign-up for a summer camp are expected to have at least one parent help with the production in some way. There will be a sign-up sent out after registration for parents to choose what they would like to volunteer for. This may include costumes, snacks, props, set up, take down, cast party, etc.
About payments: On the last page of the registration you can either select a credit card payment or an offline payment (pay by check or cash). If you select a credit card payment a small processing fee is added. If you select an offline payment, you will need to mail a check made out to Young Performing Artists of ABQ to Sharee Gariety no later than May 7th. If payment has not been received by May 10th, your spot will be opened up for another participant.
Registering more than one child? Before the payment page, it will ask if you would like to add another participant or continue to the payment page. You can select "ADD PARTICIPANT" to register another child. When you are finished registering all participants, you can then continue to the payment page.
COVID Safety Measures: The following will be in place to help minimize risk of spreading Covid: Rehearsals and the performance will be held outside. We will have some shade structures, but we won't be in the shade all the time, so please send the kids with sunscreen on and wearing hats. And, of course, masks! We'll wear masks during the initial rehearsals and will switch to face shields (provided by YPA) for the dress rehearsal and performance. We will encourage social distancing and the instructors have been vaccinated.
Auditions: There are lots of vocal solos, small group features and speaking lines in our production, so we encourage everyone who would like to be featured as a soloist or speaker to send in an audition tape. This year auditions will be virtual. Participants who are interested in a vocal solo of any kind or a speaking line will need to email their audition by April 30th. Again, participants are not required to audition--every registered camper will be in the show. These are just for those wishing to try out for solos or speaking lines. Auditions should be emailed to [email protected].
